  • Academic Advisor I
  • BEST Learning Community Coordinator
I am the academic advisor to first-year Biology majors here at Iowa State. I consider myself a teacher of "academic survival skills". In addition to advising, I teach BIOL 110: Orientation to the Biology Major and coordinate the BEST Learning Community. I'm an active member of the Learning Community Assessment Committee and the CALS Student Success and Retention Committee.

I began my career as an academic advisor in 2019 after teaching Introductory Biology at DMACC for several years. Occasionally I am a freelance logo designer for small businesses.

My graduate research focused on the importance of experiential learning and assessment efficacy in informal learning environments. I had the privilege of partnering with the Trinity River Audubon Center in Dallas, Texas to create a three-part field trip for primary- and secondary-school students.
