I am an academic advisor for Biology majors here at Iowa State.  I also teach BIOL 110: Biology Major Orientation and coordinate the BEST Learning Community.

My primary objective in advising is to connect to each student on an individual level to provide tailored guidance based on their own personal history and goals.  I strive to ensure that all students feel welcome and included in the community, and my office is a safe space.

I began my career as an advisor in 2019 after teaching Introductory Biology at DMACC for several years.  Occasionally I am a freelance logo designer for small businesses.

My graduate research focused on the importance of experiential learning and assessment efficacy in informal learning environments.  I had the privilege of partnering with the Trinity River Audubon Center in Dallas, Texas to create a three-part field trip for primary- and secondary-school students.
