PAST BSC Meeting Schedule Fall 2022

Sept 14 Field trip to McFarland Park Field trip to McFarland Park for hiking and s'mores! Meet at Bessey loading dock at 6:30 PM for carpooling.

Oct 12 STUDY TABLES!!!!! This week we will be hosting study tables! We have several majors involved in the club including Biology and Genetics, so come and work on homework together, or take a break and hang out! All are welcome, and we can’t wait to see you there! 
Oct 26 Pumpkin Painting Party BSC will be having a Pumpkin Painting Party! You heard that right, a pumpkin painting party! More information on that will be coming soon!

December 2nd from 12-2 PM: will be the Undergraduate Research Symposium. Atrium of Bessey Hall. More information about this event will be coming soon! 

Biology and Genetics are hosting a Meals From the Heartland community service activity:
When: Saturday, October 15, 2022 (ISU football game is away)
Time: 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
Where: Molecular Biology Building Atrium
Our goal is to package between 20,000 - 40,000 meals !!!!

8:30-10 AM: setup
10-12: Package thousands and thousands of meals
12-1:30 PM: Cleanup
How do I get involved and volunteer?
We also really need volunteers to assist in setup and cleanup. 
Setup will start at 8:30 AM, cleanup will take about an hour or so after the final food package has been sealed (~12:00-1:30 PM).

FACUL-TEA Time - Get to know your professors!
Occurs every-other Monday at 9:45-10:45 AM in the Bessey Atrium. Tea and coffee provided. Don't know your instructors? This is a great way to meet and get know more your professors in an informal setting.

Apr 6 BSC presentation: class registration and opportunities in biology BSC will be hosting a study table and discuss tips and tricks for class registration and opportunities in biology - we hope to see you there and we encourage you to bring friends! 
Apr 20 Dr. Rob Wallace Tentative topic: Floyd County Fossil and Prairie Park - collecting Devonian fossils, including bivalves, gastropods, crinoids, corals, bryozoans, cephalopods, and microfossils
Apr 23   CLUB TRIP TO FLOYD COUNTY FOSSIL AND PRAIRIE PARK: April 23, 2022 
The Biological Sciences Club is planning a trip to the Floyd County Fossil and Prairie Park for Saturday, April 23! Students who have attended in the past have had a great time! At the site, we will be collecting Devonian fossils, including bivalves, gastropods, crinoids, corals, bryozoans, cephalopods, and microfossils. For more information, you can view the Floyd County Fossil and Prairie Park’s website HERE. Additionally, Dr. Wallace will be telling us more about the fossils at the park at our April 20 club meeting. If you are interested in attending the trip, please fill out this INTEREST FORM.

BSC is hosting a fundraiser at Tropical Smoothie on Friday, October 22.  All you have to do is stop by and buy a smoothie from 2PM-7PM to support our club!
