Differences in College Requirements for the Biology Major

A bachelor of science degree in Biology may be completed in either the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (AgLS), or the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS). The differences in requirements are at the college level:

College of Agriculture and Life Sciences

3 credits of Ethics
3 credits of Arts & Humanities
3 credits of Social Sciences
1 course in Interpersonal Communications
(ex. Sp Cm 212)

College of Liberal Arts and Sciences


12 credits in Arts & Humanities
9 credits in Social Sciences
1 year of Foreign Language
(unless 3 years taken
in High School)

In addition, both AGLS and LAS require completion of the University requirements of 1 year of composition, 3 credits of U.S. Diversity courses, and 3 credits of International Perspective courses. The Biology major requires 120 credits total including 44 credits of Biology, 7-8 credits in Math/Statistics, 8 credits of Physics, and 16-17 credits of Chemistry.
